Ole Virginia Hams Amateur Radio Exam Information
The Ole Virginia Hams, ARC will offer the three Amateur Radio Exams (Technician, General, and Extra) as part of the Manassas Hamfest on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at the Prince William Fairgrounds
Information you need to know:
- The exams are being conducted by the Mount Vernon, ARC VE Team under authority of the Laurel VEC.
- There is no charge to take the exam.
- The exams will be available on a walk up basis ONLY from 0830EDT until 0930EDT. The exam session will conclude no later than 1100 EDT.
- The testing will be conducted in the Ladies Auxiliary building on the fairground property. There will be no admittance charge to take the exam.
- Talk-in will be on the W4OVH repeaters: 146.970, 224.660 and 442.200 MHz.
- If you intend to take the exam, please bring at least one photo ID issued by a government agency (Driver's License, Military ID card, etc.).
- Bring both an original and a copy of your FCC issued license. There are no facilities to photocopy near the site and you will be unable to take the exam (or receive a successful upgrade) without the relevant paperwork. If the FCC has issued an FRN number to you, you must provide that number at the exam; otherwise you will need to provide your Social Security Number (SSN) in order to qualify to take the exam (we cannot accept your SSN if the FCC has issued an FRN to you).
- For grandfather credit for element 3, you must provide an original technician license (and a photocopy) issued prior to March 21, 1987 or a letter from the FCC confirming that you held a technician license prior to that date. You must produce an complete copy of a CallBook published prior to 1987 in order to receive grandfather credit from a CallBook entry. Documents printed from websites, etc. will not be accepted as proof.
